| California Assembly Bill 1127 provides Cal/OSHA and local and state prosecutors stronger means to enforce occupational safety and health in administrative, civil, and criminal settings. Signed into Law on October 5, 1999, AB 1127 makes it easier for injured workers to prove cases against third parties who cause their injuries. It raises the administrative penalty for a serious violation of a Cal/OSHA standard from $7,000 to $25,000. AB 1127 impacts employers, employees, and safety professionals around the entire State of California, WE NOW KNOW HOW THIS LAW MAY AFFECT US OR OUR EMPLOYERS IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY? | |
| Thanks to a lively Q&A session, LA ASSE has answer
the questions. Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney, Ed Nison, covered his agency's plan to enforce this legislation in and around Los Angeles County. Thirty-one attendees heard what is being done in Los Angeles County in regard to serious on-the-job injury cases, death-on-the-job cases, the role of the District Attorney and Cal-OSHA official enforcement, and how the LA DA is to "roll out" the program for Los Angeles area employers. |
